When it comes to backyard upgrades, few projects deliver as much day-to-day enjoyment as a private sport court, and this build for the Abels family shows exactly why. Homestead Landscape & Construction transformed a sloped section of the backyard into a fully finished multi-sport court, ready for basketball, pickleball, and beyond.

Because of the natural elevation change across the yard, the project called for a substantial retaining wall, built from natural stacked stone, to create a level playing surface while adding serious visual weight and permanence to the space. Flagstone pathways and patio areas tie the court back to the rest of the yard, while layered planting beds soften every edge with color and texture. Lighting along the wall and court perimeter extends play well into the evening.

The result is a backyard destination that’s as much a landscape feature as it is a place to play; proof that a sport court doesn’t have to feel bolted on when it’s built with the right foundation.
